In June, my husband and I celebrated 20 years of marriage. As I look back on our years together, I think about the ups and downs (more ups than downs, praise God), and how our marriage grew as our faith grew. God, and only God, is the reason we have remained happlily married for so long. We went to Hawaii, and while we were there, we had our marriage blessed at a little simple church in Kaua'i. No frills, no fuss, just a simple blessing in a simple church by a simple priest. As parents of four sons, it's not easy to find time to be together and pray together, and I feel so blessed to have been able to celebrate the gift of our Sacrament that day with mass and a blessing. Sure, we had an amazing time in Hawaii like anyone who visits that incredible part of the world, but it was important to us that we not celebrate without giving thanks to the one who brought us and kept us together...Jesus. Receiving the Blessed Sacrament on our actual anniversary was the only way we wanted to start the day. I thank God for my husband, who supports all my music endeavors, and who has set a beautiful example to our boys about what it means to be a good husband.
